In 2002 we did 18 days in Europe on an Electra Glide Ultra Classic. Rents from HOG in Frankfurt. As with almost all HOG rentals the bike was I great shape. There are also lots of other rental operations in Europe if you want another brand, BMW's, Honda's, you name it. Riding a Harley was fun, both because I love the power characteristics of the bikes and because you will be one of the few riding one.
Motorcycle touring is very popular in Europe, lots of accommodations geared to bikers. We spent most of our time in the Alps. Incredible riding, food and the best beer you will ever experience. Rooms at the ski resorts are inexpensive in the summer. Ones that are $200-$300+ in the winter are often less than $100 in the summer. You can get 1,2 or 3 meals included with the rooms. Go,and have fun you will love it.

Just remember to check with your Medical insurance carrier and make sure that you are covered for out of the US. A lot of times your medical will not cover you overseas. I just got back from Mexico and madde sure I bought a seperate travelers Insurance policy. Nothing could be worse than having to need coverage and find out you don't have any coverage.

Rented a BMW back in August in Zurich. Rentals prices were pretty high as most everything else is in Switzerland. We had the bikes for a week and stayed in St. Moritz. From there we toured around the alps and went in to Italy to Lake Como. The highways in Switzerland are in great shape and the drivers for the most part are courteous. In Italy the roads are not as good and the drivers are crazy. It was a trip of a lifetime. If you got a chance to do it you won't be sorry.
