What Is Your BEST Ride EVER & Why?

Two trips come to mind. In the late 70’s my late wife and I rode from our home south of Baltimore to Niagara Falls, Canada. It was a four day trip with great weather and an even better companion.
This past summer I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway with 7 other friends on 5 bikes. The scenery is always beautiful on the BRP but what set this trip apart (I've rode the BRP 4 times) was the motel we stayed at in Maggie Valley, the Holiday Motel. After riding for the day we would walk to dinner, and then come back and sit on the porch of the motel in rocking chairs and just fellowship about the sights we had seen that day. It was a great way to get to know your friends even better.

I always enjoy the trip out to Sturgis, which is surprising because I'm usually in a rush, so its mostly an interstate ride. I enjoy the sense of a migration, seeing, meeting & riding with more & more motorcyclists from the first gas stop someplace in Georgia all the way north & west. Its a ride that is more about the people than the actual route or roads.

While its not a great trip in terms of mileage I enjoy fall rides through WNY. The foliage and scenery is beautiful and when you head south through the grape vineyards along the lake the smell it incredible. My wife and I enjoy these rides, however the generally mark the end of riding season.

1974 ,my first overnight trip on a bike riding with my two best friends . One on a FXE Super Glide, one on a Honda 750 and me on my Sporty . We left Boston Friday night after work and hightailed it to Laconia for bike week . No plans , no place to stay , no expectations . That is when I learned that my bike is not just a bike , it is a key , a door opener to a world full of sights , experiences and adventure . To this day when we are at a party or gathering we will go to a quiet corner and belly laugh reminiscing about that long weekend in New Hampshire .What happened up there stayed up there .
