I go down there almost every year and i live near buffalo. With your time constraints i would take 90 to erie then 79 to 19 to 64 to 77 to 81 to 40. Off 19 you could take a little detour on route 16 in virginia. It`s called the back of the dragon. Awesome road and no traffic. Great smkokey mountain national park is a nice leisurely ride but 4th of july week maybe mobbed. Cherohola Skyway is nice. When i do the the dragon i do it on a wednesday and i`m there by 8am. Everywhere down there is a nice ride. Enjoy

It was suggested that you hit Gettysburg, agred. Wobble down to the Skyway then down thru the BRP. Make one of your stops the mile high swinging bridge. The bridge is something but the trip up Grandfather Mountain is what you will talk about. The Cherahola Skyway is great, The Moonshiner 28 will take you along Fontana Lake where they film a lot of Discovery Channels' Moonshiner series. That will dump you out close to the Tail. Been there done that, not too impressed. There are a lot better roads in the area IMHO. Diamond Back, Devils Traingle. Wheels Thru Time Musuem is a must for me. Well worth the price of admission. People are great and will talk to you.
