The Washington coast is not as accessible as Oregon's coast. Anacortes is actually on the Puget Sound inland from the ocean. If you are starting there, take the ferry over to Port Townsend (stay a night there, cute place). Personally, I would not try to go around the Olympic Peninsula from there (it is not directly on the water and all you see are fir trees and fog). Head down to Olympia and then head west to Aberdeen. From there, head to the coast to Westport then to Raymond (Aberdeen to Raymond is a straight shot, however). Raymond to Ilwaco to Astoria on US101. I would stay at either the Long Beach peninsula (north of Ilwaco) or Astoria. From Astoria south on US101 has great little towns all the way down the coast. Stop at any of them, like Cannon Beach, Newport, Reedsport, Coos Bay or Gold Beach.

Thanks for the info; we are coming across WA on Hwy 20, want to avoid Seattle and get on a back road near the coast ASP. I will take a closer look at our planned route

I agree. Partick's Point is dope! Arcada has good food and great beer!
