How far would I ride? Well, all the way to divorce court. That's where I would have to hand her the keys.

Default doing something like that

My motorcycle buddy and I are retiring and I'm married he's not blessed with a good wife. We're going on a three month motorcycle vacation. Gulf coast, tx., nm., az., nv., all thru Sierra Nevada mountains, up pacific coast highway, Canadian Rockies, glacier np. Yellowstone, back to or., wa., I'd., mt., Wy., Sturgis, then back along great lakes. It pays to have a great wife and good retirement. 35 years in the military.

I'm retired and I can ride all I want. The most I like being away from the comforts of home is about two weeks, so most of my long rides are limited to less than 4,000 miles since I don't like to ride much more than 300 miles in a day. Four years ago I did a 23 day, 7,000 mile cross country and back ride. I might do that again. But mostly two weeks is my limit. This summer I'll scoot out to Sturgis for a couple of days, and then spend the rest of the two weeks riding the high mountain passes of Colorado before heading back to the west coast. I also have a 1,700 mile round trip ride up to Seattle planned for July, a 1,000 mile three day ride to Death Valley planned for October and maybe a 1,100 mile ride to Palm Springs planned for late April or late May. The details on that ride are still to be worked out.

To answer your question, I would ride as far as I needed to get to the next job.

Ride as far as your wallet will take you. The road has a way of clearing your mind and put things in perspective.

You can get a job while traveling........I would just follow good weather, work odd jobs, chase tail and wonder why I didn't do this earlier. :-)

With a wife and no job. I'm currently between job's. The one I had and the one I will not take! I would still do the same as I have done. I would ride. I have done the Arctic Circle ride, 49 States, most Provence's and Territories ( give me two more years). Highway 2 across the States, Pacific Coast Highway, the furthest landfalls of the lower 48 States North, South, West and East. Great bucket list rides.

My wife has known that during our 48 year marriage she should not try to have me choose between motorcycling and her. She does not like to ride or motorcycles in general. She is understanding of my passion and supports me.
