If you haven't already been on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the southern end is a great ride.......you can come up thru NW GA to access it, or I-77 or I-26 from SC........worth it IMO.......

The Trace is a cool, beautiful ride. It is slooow at 50 mph. Much better to overnight in Tupelo than Jackson, IMO. When leaving NOLA, hit Chef Highway, 90, east. Don't plan on stopping for about 20-30 miles. The first 5-10 is not the best neighborhood and then the marsh. Ride 90 all the way to Ocean Springs, then hit 10. Barber Motorsports is pretty cool. Dragon is OK. You can get the tee-shirt. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a pm.

Here is where I did a write up of our trip from last year about the same time you are going. It covers that coastal area you are looking at. You can see what we did and maybe get some ideas.

Thanks folks for your input, much appreciated. There will be pictures and a write up. I hope mine is half as god as ol Silver Eagles post above. That is exactly the kind of adventure we are looking for with different ideas for stops. I don't want to copy someones ride, just learn from their experience! Thanks again.

This is off of the Natchez Trace. Wichahpi Commemorative wall! it was recommended to me but both trips I have made to visit have gotten changed mid trip. one day I will make it there.

There is so much to see in the areas you have listed.
Natchez Trace
Land Between the Lakes
Nashville
several Whiskey Distilleries and Vineyard's
Highway 30 beside Fall Creek Falls is beautiful and twisty
there are places out on HWY 70 around Cathage TN to Cookeville that time doesn't seem to have touched in 30 years.
Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherohala Sky Way, Foothills Parkway are all great roads
the Tail O the Dragon is a right of passage. there are better roads but none as advertised as this one!
make sure you have a burger from Whataburger while your on the coast!
Take a walk on the USS Alabama
you can go to Dauphin Island and ride the ferry over to Florida! there is a fort on both sides!

you have a lot of ground to cover in a short time it will be hard to see much but there is much to see!

Have Fun!

Yep, we have a very ambitious schedule. I have the maps of all the roads around Asheville, some in TN and Georgia. After the Trace, we are going to have to ride some interstates to make up some time so we can enjoy some sites.
Being in Texas, we get to eat Whataburger whenever we want and i am sure my wife will say no to that,LOL.
I like the whiskey and vineyard idea as that one had escaped me. We have picked out some museums and other stops along the way including the Biltmore. I am looking forward to wheels thru time and the Barber Vintage museum.
Appreciate the thoughts! we are 8 days away and counting!

Not sure where you will be in SC. But there is a place called Bob's Place close to Sunset SC. Corner of Hwy 178 and State Route 39-100. It's just a place to wet your whistle. But its the oldest continuous run bar in SC. Talk about caricature, it has it. Plus Hwy 178 is a great road.

If your in the NE corner of GA. Look up Warwoman Rd out of Clayton GA.

Hwy 64 that runs along the Ocoee river in TN is really nice. Hwy 64 will actually take you all the way to Brevard NC. Its a great Rd. When you get around Highlands and Cashiers NC its really nice. You have to stop at Bridal Vale Falls. You can ride right under the falls. Its just west of Highlands NC on Hwy 64.
