Default Arizona grand canyon etc....

I am heading out to Phoenix for a family thing, renting a motorcycle and plan on sightseeing. I have week, and would like to include the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon and Rt 66. I see rt 10 out of Tophock to Kingman and beyond looks like a good ride. Any other advice...

I answered this in the Southwest section. You should get some additional suggestions here.

We just finished a ride in Southern Utah and Northern AZ. It was great temps but you have to dodge the rain storms. We got lucky and only hit about 20 min of rain for the entire 4 days. I wouldn't let the threat of rain halt your plans. In this area, wait 10 minutes and the weather will change.

I did this in 2010. Sales meeting in Scottsdale, and went out a few days early & rented. If you get to Kingman, you probably should ride 66 to Oatman. Cool old copper mining town with board sidewalks in front of the stores. Looks like there oughtta be a shootout breaking out any minute now! Kind of a cool ride to get there too. I went to Kingman from Phoenix, out to Oatman, and back to Kingman to stay overnight, and had plenty of time before dark. I rode from the south rim of the canyon, to Flagstaff, and then down to Sedona & stayed overnight. Part of my plan was to ride 89A from Flagstaff down to Sedona, but I didn't know how cool a ride it was until I got there. 89A is great if you're heading from the south rim down to Sedona.

LOL! I am back. It was awesome! Rented a bike from Chester HD in Mesa. I had some family GTG's. We did a few biker bars, one near AZ state prison. (river bottom?) and the other I am at a loss for.

I Rode from Chandler to Payson 87, to Show Low 260 , to Globe 60 , to Catalina 77, then back to Chandler via 79.

Also did I17 N to 180 to the Grand Canyon, then the south rim 64 to Camerson, 89 to Flagstaff. Flagstaff to the old route 66 in Parks via I40, then to Sedona, 89a south all the way to 89 all the way to 93 to 60 back to Chandler.

Many stops along the way, highlights were Jerome, Sedona, Salt River Canyon and the Grand Canyon. It was 54 degrees between Payson and Show Low, it rained, it was 91 degrees on the way to Flagstaff, then I had to put my sweatshirt and jacket on when I got to Flagstaff. (It was 39 degrees the morning after in Flagstaff...) When the sun went down it cooled off quick. Everyone told me how lucky I was because it has not hit 100 yet. You could still feel the sun burn your skin. I bought 110 spf sun screen.

I rented a 2015 ultra limited, which ran flawlessly. I was so impressed, I am looking into trading my 2012 ultra in on one. It is that much better IMHO. Hoorah for Project Rushmore.

Did I say how awesome it was? I plan on returning because there is so much to see and do. I have seen the other bike rallies. Arizona is a ride!

Glad you had a good time brother!
I've got family down there and I keep thinking I need to ride there.
I've heard the "Too Broke for Sturgis" rally is pretty cool but have never been.

Northern Arizona and southern Utah is about as good as riding gets.
