Cruise through the Mall. Stop if there is something they want to see. But I would take them to the National Museum of the Marine Corps for sure.

I drive a charter bus and I take people to all the "spots" in DC. The NMMC is my personal favorite. It is near Quantico.

I have parked on Ohio Drive near the FDR Memorial, walk by the MLK Memorial, then walked up to the Korean War Memorial, the Licoln Memorial, then the Vietnam War Memorial, the WW 2 Memorial, the Washington Monument and the Ellipse. Riding out you could see the Jefferson Memorial.

Default Washington DC

If you come in on the GW Pkwy you can leave via Rock Creek Park. I believe it is the largest urban park in the country. Attractions include the National Zoo - which is free, a planetarium, and many other sight seeing features. You would pick it up by the Kennedy Center. Many twisties.

It also runs parallel to Connecticut Ave which has tons of great restaurants. You could then pick up I495 at Connecticut Ave and take that to I 270.

I grew up in DC and now live in Howard Co. PM with phone number if you want to discuss further.

If memory serves...every 15 minutes. If they are busy, you might have to wait a bit longer.

This is the method I use when visitors want to go to DC. It is very convenient, and the trolly drivers also act as tour guides, telling stories and pointing things out.
