Default Two weeks to go, I'm having a hard time dealing with it

Two weeks from today we leave on our trip for the year. Two weeks is a long time when you're anxious. Time just drags by, but I know when we finally leave, time will fly by. That sucks.

It's just Mark and I on this trip, except our wives are flying to Rapid City to meet us and ride the hills. We're riding from home to the Black Hills, will stay in Deadwood for 3 days with the wives. When we leave Deadwood we'll ride over to the Chief Joseph Hwy and Beartooth Pass and stay in Red Lodge. Then we will ride down through Yellowstone on down through Colorado and back home.

I've made many trips similar to this, but I can't wait. I'm like a little kid.

I'll do a trip report here similar to the last one I did here:

I can soooooo relate to what you're feeling, Robert. I leave on the 24th for a month long approx 9000 mile round trip trip (is that good English??) and I can hardly wait!! I've been planning it for months and the wait is doing me in.

Hope you have a great trip. I'm looking forward to reading all about this year's trip - really enjoyed reading about your trip last year.

My wife & I got back about 2 weeks ago from our trip. I was like a crack head going through withdrawals the last couple of weeks. Work SOMETIMES kept my mind of it.
Gonna be awhile til our next trip, but I'm going crazy just thinking about it.
Hopefully living through yours will help me survive!

Hope you have a great trip brother!!

Highly suggest riding from Turkey TX up to Amarillo which goes thru lower end of CapRock Canyon..beautiful scenery...

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll try to forget about it this weekend and enjoy some of my homemade brew. I have two fresh 5 gallon kegs in the kegerator, one a light lager and the other a good Hefeweizen. That should be enough to forget about my upcoming trip for a while.

...but it will probably make matters worse on Monday morning.

Why Madrid, NM? Looked at the website and it looks kinda touristy. Am I missing something?

ETA I feel your pain. Trying to get things squared-away for a trip to Cuchara and Creede, CO early October before the cold sets in at 9000 feet. GF is starting new private school in Dallas and I'm busy helping, not to mention my own business. Such is life. SGS is sitting there staring at me like I'm neglecting her. Getting backrest and highway pegs installed tomorrow. In my mind I'm already packing.

That's where they made the movie Wild Hogs. Most of the buildings there are from the 1800's. We were there like 8am and only thing open was Coffee Shop. Coming down 14S, known as the Torqouis Highway thru the pass is very nice..

Oh, it was 43 degrees in Jackson Hole on Wed, Aug 5th when we left and headed south..

We took over 1000 photo's on our trip which is under my Road Trip on this forum..

LOL Okay! Still gotta watch that movie someday.

I'm a BIG FAN of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. To this day that area has not been spoiled my Californication. Some of those people there for sure, but I remember when Wavy Gravy moved from San Francisco and started Hog Farm then Dennis Hopper bought a place close by, so the folks who moved there from SF when that scene fell apart before Altamont were good folks. My kind of folks anyway.
