My wife and I shipped our bikes from VA to San Francisco last summer and did this as part of our 16 day vacation. We rode from SF north until Rt 1 turned into 101 (Leggett), east over to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, west to LA and then the PCH back from LA to SF. If I had to do it all over again I would have ridden in a counter-clockwise direction as I think the views on the PCH would have been better riding south vs. north like we did. You can read about our CA adventure starting here http://skylinebikers.blogspot.com/20...e-20-2014.html

My Brother and I just rode down the PCH (not the whole thing but quite a bit of it) just about a week ago on our complete 48 state ride. Highly recommended.

Always wanted to see inside the old (but still active) US Navy SOSUS station on top of the big rock at Point Sur.

And how is the new bridge/tunnel at Pitkin's Curve?

Pretty cool. Covered bridge in concrete to look like granite. Should help with rock slides.
