Default Weather Dragontail road in February

Hello.

I'll be going to Atlanta for a meeting on February the 5th and the 6th.

I was considering renting a bike for a couple of days and riding the dragontail road on the 7th and 8th.
What weather can I expect to find there during that period? Ice on the road?

Thank you!

Snow and ice are completely possible on US129 that time of year, it's the mountains (eastern mountains anyway). But who really knows with the weather. Wait and see what happens. It's not like people are lined up to rent motorcycles in Atlanta in February.

It can be clear and 75 degrees or it can be a solid sheet of ice or snow and 10 degrees. Only way to plan for this trip would be to watch the weather forecast and the live cams as the time gets close. If you don't like Tenn Weather just wait a few hours and it will change!!!! Default "Dragon"

Not the best time of the year to ride that road...About 5 years ago, I rode it in March just after a snow storm a few days before. It had warmed up enough to melt the snow but there was so much salt on the road that it was extremely slick.
Just keep tabs on the weather and you'll be able to tell if it is worth the time and effort.

If you are on FB I recommend you 'like' Killboy.com and US129photo. They are real good about reporting adverse road conditions on the Dragon and Skyway such as ice/snow and sand/salt during the winter months.
