Default Big Bend National Park Texas

Thinking about shooting down to Big Bend National Park leaving from El Paso to do some camping. After doing so re search I'm thinking about staying at the Cottonwood Camp ground. Wondering if any one has any other suggestions on campgrounds or good routes. Thanks!

I'd recommend that Davis Mountain Loop road that goes by the McDonald Observatory. Nice ride and Google McDonalds' night time star parties if you have an interest in astronomy. Then on to Marfa and down to Presidio and the River Road to Terlingua. Coming from El Paso you might want to motel it in Fort Davis the first night. Good breakfast at that drug store.

Edit: never camped at that campground but that road to Santa Elena Canyon was always a must ride when I lived in Texas. You'll find the Rio Grande canyons surprisingly scenic.

Me and some friends are going to try to make this trip in late spring or early summer. I'd like to know about campgrounds also.

I camped a couple times at Chisos Basin and can't imagine anyone not liking it. In winter it could be a touch cold since it has a little elevation, but when you're going it should be fine. May need reservations...web site will tell all. Also, suspect there are reviews on Trip Advisor. Will definitely be a change from camping on the shores of Toledo Bend😁

I'll look up Chisos Basin. Thanks for the info...and yes it's a huge difference from Toledo Bend. Haha.

I think it was 2 years ago while staying at a motel in Wall, SD I met a pretty good sized group from Many and Campti. Was that you folks? Drank a few beers and had a nice visit.
