Default Twin Cities to Banff 2016

A few buddies and I are heading up to Banff in late summer of 2016 over a ten day ride. As of right now we are thinking of heading up to Jamestown ND then northwest to Swift Current. From there we will make it to Banff for the next three days to tour around the area. After that we will drop down into Glacier for a day and continue east to Theodore Roosevelt Park. We will then take the ND Badlands loop before we pass through Fargo on our way back to the Twin Cities. We have a few ideas of things to see (Jasper, Lake Louise, Going to the sun Road, Lake McDonald) but We're looking for other suggestions or recommendations of sites, roads, destinations and attractions. Any input will be appreciated.

Thank you all in advance!

Banff looks like a great trip, there is a great report on a trip in that part of the world.

Look up "11000 miles" or "Bella Coola"

That'll be a great trip.. Banff/Lake Louise is gorgeous. If you dont get too many replies from my fellow Canadians, let me know...and you could also try posting in the Canada regional area.

Check out Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park. The turnoff is about 15 miles into BC from Lake Louise and about a dozen miles up the Yoho Valley.. On the way you can also check out the spiral railway tunnel. There are trains going thru about every twenty minutes

Moraine Lake...bluest blue you'll ever see in a lake and only a short ride from Lake Louise.

My wife and I have been up in that area twice. We like to stay in Canmore just east of Banff. It's a great area, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, the Ice Fields, the ride to Golden... the list goes on. Friendly folks and we didn't have any complaints. We left Canmore and rode over to BC, Radium Hot Springs and down to Kalispell MT., it was a long day but nice ride. We Like to ride Going to the Sun road west to east and return to Kalispell through East Glacier Park on Hwy 2. If you have time to ride up to Waterton Park in Alberta it is beautiful. If your going to stay in Alberta and head to Glacier take 40 to Longview then go south to Pincher Creek. 40 is a real pretty ride.
Have a great trip.

That area of the canadian rockies should be on everyones Ride It List. We rode up that way from SE Pa two years ago but did Roosevelt park and Glacier first then up to Banff. We left west Glacier and uisng 93,3 then 22 to Calgary. We planned on taking 22 then 40 up to Canemore area but the weather was not in our favor steady soaking rain with temps in the low 50's. Ended up finding a place to stay in Longview AB and had a good time at the Steakhouse. The next morning the weather was the same so we scratched 40 and headed for Calgary then across to Banff. The scenery up there is absolutely breath taking, the ride from Banff to Jasper was awesome. Staying in Banff was pricey but we knew that and planned for that to be the highlight and it certainly was. Like others have already pointed out Lake Louise , Moraine lake, Columbia Glacier, Ice Field Parkway its all incredible scenery. We left there after 3 days and rode south on 93, to 95 and headed for Idaho.
We plan on going back again in 2 years but this time may head north through Minnesota then west through Canada eventually riding the Pacific Coast before turning east.

On our last trip to Sturgis, we went from Medicine Hat Alberta down thru Havre, then across. Havre had an interesting underground town...and we rode thru the Williston area to see what American oil boom looked like compared to ours
