Our summer trip starting aug2016,half leaving from Stl ,other half chicago with side stop to pick up other half ,meet in Athens Oh. Or around it. We will be camping . the problem we are having is 6 August is a saturday and most campgrounds are requiring a 2 nite stay. We plan on one nite and move on to Front Royal va. We dont have problems after that cause we will be in the week and most campers are home. Any suggestion on campgrounds around athens ohio (with shower house) would be appreciated.(KOA is a 2 day minimum ). Thx in advance

 

Try Burr Oak State Park near Glouster, Ohio. Its about 15/20 miles north of Athens, OH on State Route 13. The lodge is off State Route 78. You're probably going to have to get near a state park to find camping facilities. Maybe try the Hocking Hills area near Logan, Ohio. Not many camping areas will have paved roads leading to them.

If you don't need a shower anywhere in Wayne National forest is free! Check out these places below they will allow it some are many for ATV's, which makes for fun nighttime activities.

Has anyone stayed at begleys campground?they are on my list. Long hot day on Super slab YES A SHOWER IS A MUST!! I 've given up hotel rooms to camp ( been 25+ years ) since camping. This is a 50/50 camp/ motel trip. Were camping first 4 nites 4 nites at hunts lodge in tellico plains tn ( awsome place,awsome owners).

 

Don't know if Begley's has showers. It's only about 12 miles from my house. Town if very AVT friendly. If you're thinking that you'll be on a slab there, don't. There are some twisties in this area that would rival the Dragon. Good easts aren't too awfully far away. Am checking with a local, will let you know.

The website says shower house. $2.00 . ive spoke to one of the owners ,very nice. Never considerd road conditions. Gonna have to keep poking around . thx
