There was a NASA spot to view the lunar landing modules. It was good for a break, and cool to see the gear up close.

Pensacola we stayed at Margaritaville in Pensacola Beach. It is awesome, when people don't bring their kids there. We've been three times now, and it seems to be more and more popular & more and more kids. Ask around, maybe they smartened up. Have the Pensacola Bushwacker [or get the wife to and have a sip] It tastes like a chocolate sundae. I usually stick to Landshark Lager. Totally different vibe than the Vegas location.

Have a safe ride.

The NASA spot is the Infinity Science Center at the Stennis Space Center. It is just off I10 at the MS/LA line. Here is a link for the OP or anyone interested

The Shed BBQ Joint you mentioned is in Ocean Springs they have another location on the coast but the Ocean Springs location is the original. It is great BBQ and a good laid back time. They usually have live music on the weekends
Its easy to access just off I10 in Ocean Springs

The Rigolets is where Lake Ponchatrain empties into the gulf. There is an old fort there that protected the entrance to the Lake. I guess you can go inside.

Keep riding on 90 east through Bay St Louis and Waveland. Just before you cross the bridge, you can take a right and ride along the water for a half mile and there are some nice restaurants and bars.

Continue riding along 90 east. Lots of good eating places and casinos. I would ride until I crossed over the bridge at Ocean Springs and then hit the interstate.

You could go over to Dauphine Island, there is another fort, and ride the ferry across to Gulf Shores, AL. Where there is another fort. The ride across AL is not very long, but pretty. There are some good eating joints there as well.

Then ride into FL/ There you will leave the beach and ride inland to Pensacola. There you have to go through downtown and take the bridges to Pensacola Beach.
Went and had a couple of beers at Al's last weekend. You cannot go into the Fort at the Rigoltes any more. They closed the tours after katrina and never re-opened it (I may be wrong, but I think that's true)

My lady and I plan on going that route from New Orleans to Lady Lakes, FL in July. No Interstate driving...All back roads by the beaches until we get out of Panama City Beach then it's all 2 lane road towards to my friend's house.

Heard good things about The Shed and Florabama so we'll be checking them out.

The Shed is indeed good BBQ, The folks that run it won the whole hog cooking competition at Memphis in May I think it was last year. FloraBama is a great bar that has been there forever. If you plan on visiting it I would recommend spending the night around there. There are a lot of Condos rental units around that area. I think the Phoenix X is the unit that is located next door to Flora Bama. Makes it easy to stagger home after a late night

I have a ride planned for May 31st. Riding from So, Jersey to Fla Then west to New Orleans then to Tex, Okl, and Ark. Been watching the news lately and it seems that area is getting trashed. Tornados, Hail, monster rain storms etc. Should I reconsider and head west instead? Maybe Colorado and Kansas? I'm taking a trip one way or the other.

Monster rain storms are the norm in the Spring for much of the South. This year we have really got our share. Late May will typically be much dryer, I'd say go for it
