Heading North on 191 out of Morenci:
after you have cleared the tunnel, made the initial climb through the twisties (couple 3 miles or so..), you'll end up at the top of the grade after a tight sweeper to the right. Be easy here as the mine does have a haul trucks crossing the highway time to time. They will "ALWAYS" have flaggers in place if they are active at that spot.
immediately after that point to the left, you will see a HUGE "lay down" yard that is barricaded off. Never know what kind of mining equipment they have parked there in various stages of repair. That spot is known as B Hill.
directly across the highway from B Hill is remains of the grave yard for what used to be the community of Stargo AZ.

I really appreciate all the info! Keep it coming! I don't get to saddle up and take multi day trips on my bike as often as I'd like so I wanna make sure I hit as much as I can.

Plan on 3 hours for the 99 miles from Morenci to Alpine. Longer if you stop more frequently.

Yeah figured it wouldn't be a fast stretch of road. We are in no rush, just out to enjoy the ride.

Honestly there is not much in Cave Creek. From Camp Verde you should head to Prescott and then down to Wickenburg, from there you can head to Cave Creek.

Devil's highway is one of my favorite rides. I had to pass it up the first year I was heading out to the west coast because I was in monsoon season. NASTY weather. I ended up pit stopped in Globe, AZ at a tiny gas station during an hour downpour. Finally made the ride for the first time in 2014.

I have family in Cave Creek which is why it's our final stop. Shooting down the 17 isn't the worst ride plus we will already have quite a few hours in the saddle by the time we hit camp verde so I don't know if we'll be up for the long way around. Who knows though. We don't have set plans except going from Morenci to Alpine.

Legend has it, hunters would shoot an arrow in this tree, if they had shot an arrow at an animal, and missed.

Located a mile or so south of the Blue Vista lookout

its pretty cool
