You really should make the trip to Prescott and down 89A. It's a fabulous road on a bike.
If you do it you can pick up Cavecreek Hwy Rt74 just south of Wickenburg taking that over to you family. Well worth the few extra hours.

74 is the Carefree Hwy, not the Cave Creek Hwy.

Wanted to share a few pictures from today.

Rest stop just outside of Las Cruses. Wanted to stop and make sure every thing was staying in place

Fueling up at Caballo Lake

Santa Rita copper mine. This picture doesn't do the size of this pit juctice.

Tacos at Jalisco Cafe in Silvercity

Crossing into AZ from New Mexico

Clifton. Just a pit stop before getting to the Morenci motel.

So far the ride has been amazing. I wanted to take a lot more pictures but was having way to much fun on the twisties and enjoying the scenery.

Jalisco Cafe, man it's been a lot of years. Terrific food, glad to see it's still open.
Spent a lot of time in those old smelters and mines back in the 80's.

Morenci motel just before we took off. I would highly suggest this place. Basic rooms but they were clean and for the price you can't beat it.

First pit stop on the road to warm up. It was pretty cold so we had to stop and get some blood flow to our hands and feet.

Hanegans Meadow. Again another stop to warm up and grab a cup of coffee.

We made it to Alpine and then to Show Low. It was cloudy windy and ****ing cold in northern AZ so when got to Show Low we decided we had had enough of the cold and decided to head south to Globe and then to Phoenix. I would highly suggest that ride to any one. Over all this was probably one of the best rides I've been on. If any one want a copy of my entire route I'll put up a screen shot of google maps. Thank you to every one that gave their suggestions much appreciated.

You missed the best part of Arizona by going down to Globe then Phoenix. It's not cold unless you see snow on the ground .

I like the ride from Show Low to Globe. Salt River Canyon is really fun, and I like stopping at Ft. Apache. Nice history lesson.

The Coronado Trail aka "Devil's Highway" IS the best ride in AZ. One of the best in the whole country.
