When on the Dragon, keep a vigilant eye out for rockets. They'll pass you no matter where you are, you can't fix stupid. Remember, look where you're going. You can get fixated going thru the curves and wind up rubbing down a head bump if you're not careful. When we were there, we saw 3 bikes at varying distances in the bushes, all rubbing some part of their body cause it hurts.

Get you a grease pencil and write the road # on your windshield, wipe it off when you get to your destination.

I use the Garmin Basecamp program for route planning and load it into my 665. Some guys use the Harley program. What ever you use, plan your route with a ton of waypoints. Without waypoints, when you load your trip, the 665 will recalculate the route based on start and finish points

I have a Garmin as well but if it's just 3-5 main roads, shut that thing off. Use your sense of direction and road signs...I mainly use mine for an accurate speedometer.

I will apologize up front if this seems stupid or unnecessary For experienced riders. I was driving the Blue Ridge ParKay today with the wife and two of our grandkids. When we stopped at one of the overlooks I got to talking with some riders from PA and they talked about how a couple of them had almost been caught out by some of the curves up there. I haven't ridden all over the U.S. so I guess I assumed that decreasing radius corners are as common everywhere as they are here in Western North Carolina but maybe not. So if you're riding BRP for the first time you may want to brush up your knowledge of managing these corners that can tighten up pretty significantly in the middle of the curve in these parts. Again, sorry if this is obvious to everyone but these guys today we're not aware of it.

I've done the Dragon about 20 times and have only been passed once! By a chick Named Paige on a crotch rocket that lives there Most of the time I am doing the passing!
