We did Glacier last year, last week in July, we were just about to venture into the park ( going to the sun road ) from Saint Mary's entrance when fire broke out at about 5pm in the afternoon, we had to back track back to Kalispell on Route 2..... A very long day....
Anyway we did this route from Yellowstone, even saw a mountain lion and Black bears in Flathead National Forrest....
Hope it helps...lots of greenery...

Nice route suggestion. MT200 and MT83 is a nice ride and that section of I-15 north of Helena is scenic.

Depending on time and plans, US2 and US89 from West Glacier to Browning and St Mary is a nice ride, too, if you want to ride Glacier from east to west.

If you would like to see some of ID, go west from Yellowstone to Rexburg, ID and ID33 then over to ID28 or US93 north to Lolo and Missoula. Then MT200 and MT83 north.

Enjoy the trip!

Gtmalone, Looks good thanks. I'm using most of your route on the first two legs. Except in Colarado where 550, turns to 50, I'm taking a right and check out 65, Grand Mesa Scenic Byway. Have you been there and is it worth it?

giacomo, I probable have plenty of time if I don't goof off to much. Your route does look amazing. However, once I get to Missoula it looks like 93 to Kalispell might be the ticket. And then just going some way from there. What say you? Have you been that route?

Thanks guys, I'm already chomping at the bit.

From Missoula to Kalispell, my suggestion 93/35 on the way up, 209 on the way down....(209 is pretty fast if you are in a hurry, not alot of towns)

I've not ridden CO65. Had it on plans the other year but you know how that goes. Looks like a nice road and much nicer than US50 from Delta to Grand Junction. I have ridden that.

Looks like once in Missoula, 200 to 83 may be another route that looks interesting. Decisions, Decisions.

HWy2 goes to Glaciar. I would take the interstate, until you get close.

CR, Last year I led a group from Red Lodge to Glacier NP by way of 78 to Columbus, Mont., then 89 north from that I90 exit just east of Livingston up through Great Falls and on to Glacier. Nice ride with lots of variety and not much traffic. While 93 north out of Missoula is a pretty ride there's usually a crap load of summer RV/boat/tourist traffic. Last week rode from Missoula over Lolo Pass (US 12 west) into the Lochsa/Clearwater country to Orofino and then up to Coeur d'Alene. US 12 is in fine shape and if you can somehow fit that in I recommend it.
