Default Athens Oh to Blue ridge parkway

Its time for our rolling family reunion, we are all meeting up in athens oh. Plan on running hwy 50 east to front royal va. , then start down skyline to Brp. Recent weather in that area has been unfriendly. Ive watched the weather channel ,local news,etc... and having experienced this type of situation before , the news does not always give a "full" view of how it really is . any info about that area would be greatly appreciated. Were not leaving out of athens oh til august 7 . thx in advance.

Default Hwy 50

Took this route 2 weeks ago. Can't say what roads might be washed out. If it's all still there, hwy 50 is a treat. East of Bridgeport, it's as twisty as the "The Dragon". good luck.

Just returned from a 8 day 1700 mile trip to the BRP starting from IN. We stayed 2 days at Little Switzerland last week and used it as a home base to ride several routes around there. Did the Diamond Back. Not sure what was up, but we did the whole route without seeing another vehicle and was able to get a groove going. We had more fun on it than the Dragon Tail. Seemed wherever we went, were never disappointed on the scenery and friendliness of everyone we met.

We were down there 5 yrs ago and used hunts lodge in tellico plains as our base( good place, owners awesome, locals friendly, even the one officer we had a short talk with, lol,) the only problem was not enough time to do it all. Scenery was great. We looked into moving there we liked it so much.
