Disc lock, security system with siren and pager. I am going to invest in a cover soon as well.

Normally when staying in a motel I avoid big cities. Whenever possible I park outside my room door or a window to my room. Have a factory alarm on the bike and a bright orange disk brake lock. May pick up a full cover that says HONDA, and then I know the bike will be safe.

I am of the opinion that touring harleys are not high on the list of stolen bikes. Crotch rockets are much more likely to be stolen. Just my opinion only.

Whenever possible, I get a ground floor room, park my bike in front of my room, lock the ignition and forks and sleep with the window open. If I feel the need, I also have disc locks and a cable lock but have rarely used them.

5th on the list according to Esurance; all Japanese brands ahead of them. No statistics on the types of bikes stolen, but I am guessing that great big touring bikes are not high on the list either.

Personally, all I do is lock the ignition and cover the bike; more to keep the rain, dew, and dust off rather than for security. I haul everything inside that is worth anything or would be annoying if I lost. The bike is insured and can be easily replaced, so I don't worry about it.

I use the factory locks and alarm, then i cover it with a plain black cover to keep the dew and dust off. If someone wants it that bad they will get it anyway. The only time i do anything different is at bike week or any very large bike event, in that case i try to make it harder than the next one to take hoping the theives that come to town for those events take the easy targets.

I lock the forks and sometimes use a disk lock. Most hotels let me keep it near the front door under the port... Roof. I'm at a Marriott now and the valet gave me the option of front door or first spot in the ramp where the valets park the cars. I choose the ramp.

I used to use a cover when I left one at an airport, but the last time I did someone stole the Menards $14 cover.
