Default Day Trip: RT 100 Vermont

I took a nice day trip this past week. I've wanted to do the south-to-north RT 100 VT for a while. I've been on bits and pieces in the past, but never for the entire(well, almost) stretch. I started off on RT 495 near home and took RT 2 west to RT 63 to RT 119 into Brattleboro VT. From there I picked up RT 30 to Rt 100. RT 100 was overall nice, but the road was a little rough in some sections(I guess to be expected on any secondary road, especially in VT). There was also a decent amount of construction. I was in 4th-5th gear most of the route. Scenery was very nice. I love Vermont! I took a quick detour off Rt 30 to see the old farmhouse where my father once lived. I also visited his grave site which is located in the woods on his former property. Once I hit Newport VT, I rode the interstates back home(it was actually a nice change, because I was able to cruise between 70-80 MPH and it had a nice cooling effect...it was a hot day! I left at 5am and got home at 6:30 pm. Any day that I can be on the bike all day, is a great day!

Brattleboro, VT

Sounds like a great trip. None of the images worked for me.

Hmm. When I posted initially, I clicked and dragged the pics from Dropbox. I previewed the post and all the pics were there as they should be. Not sure what happened!

Just finished 10 days in VT, NH and ME. Day 1 we left from Troy, NY with a guy who lives in Albany. I told him I thought it would be cool to ride up VT100 to where we were staying in Waterbury. He said we could do that, but we would miss all the good rodes.....lol VT 100 is nice, but drop down into some of the valleys and roads off of 100. Lots of great riding!

Nice pics. I ride all of 100 every year as my first tour loop (including the section below rt9). We also add in 108 so I guess we do skip a bit of it and use 15/100C. Got to love the part where it just ends right after Rt 14. Less than a mile later it is 105. We either go up through Newport or more often now, head down 14 to Willoughby Gap then back over to NH on 2. I think the old bike (in your Pic) just N of Stockbridge is losing more parts every year now.
