Default Montreal for dinner!

The plan is set, almost 500 miles to dinner.
This is by far the longest ride I have undertaken meeting a co-worker in Clark Summit, continuing along I-81 with a lunch stop in Syracuse. Crossing the border and visiting the 1000 islands tower, turning left for 2.5 hours to Montreal on the 401. Returning home Sunday, I hope to follow I-87 to 287 to 78 and about of hour of back roads home.
We are prepared to bail on the last segment to Montreal if problems arise and do a U turn if necessary.
Question one, has any American gotten a speeding ticket in the great white north? Is it pay on the spot? (Carry extra cash) Meet the local magistrate while being a guest until things are settled? (Warn boss may be taking a surprise day or two off) Are things done by mail as in the states? (Not a lot of speeding, just the garden variety opps kind.)
Question two, my ride is new to me but I have not received the registration yet, will that be an issue, I have the sales paperwork I have been carrying around?
Question three, gas prices seemed to be listed as 104.9 is it safe to assume that is $1.05 cad per liter?
Question four, border crossing any advice to make it go smoothly?

Just my thoughts, highway traffic infractions work the same you can take the ticket and deal with it from home. Remember most states and provinces have reciprocal agreements as to demerits , they likely will follow you.
If the bike is in fact registered and insured bring proof of that. Whatever proof you have.
Gas prices are in price/ litre.
When at the border common courtesy and polite demeaner, turn the bike off and remove the shades (respect goes a long way)
The border majority are not a-holes unless we get off on the wrong foot, be pleasant and they will be.

No tickets, wish I had not gotten in the Nexus line at the border crossing, but they were cool.
Nice view from 1000 island tower, hint there are only 997 unless you count rocks and shoals (I do) so there is more then 1800. Had lobster thermador in a cafe in old city, worthy of the trip. Listened to YMCA while waiting in line for ice cream.
Bad, no reservations ment I rode to Plattsburgh to get a room for the night.
