Looks like Maui...never been there. Will have to visit Oahu; was there in the navy many years ago, before I met the wife. Probably go late Jan or Feb?

Default Oahu/Maui Experienced

I rented a Heritage Classic downtown Wikiki...it was reasonable...($165/Day)...We got out of the Southern Oahu area ASAP...It's crazy busy there in Honolulu. So go East and follow the coast up and around to the North Shore. Just take your time. There's plenty to see and do for free...just pull over at all the beaches, and over looks...We ate at a roadside shrimp shack! It was so good. I can't remember the names of the places that well but just remember, traffic pulses with the work day...In the morning its busy everywhere on the Island...all roads lead to Honolulu/Wikiki...and in the afternoon, everyone is going home...so just go the other way. We had a great time. A few notable places were BYU campus...yes worth the stop...also the Cultural Heritage Center there too.

In Maui, I'd find a rental whereve;r and again, get out of town. "Up Country" is away from the beaches, and for sure do not miss the windy road up to Haleakala National Park, a volcano at over 10,400 ft elevation...BRING A JACKET!!! You can spend all day in Up Country, but also like another person here said go to the "Road to Hana"...it follows the North Eastern Coast all the way up to the far end of the Island. You might just want to book a room there because its all day long to get there...it is a paradise...locals are not that friendly...maybe it was just me...I got a bad vibe there...we didn't rent a room but actually rented a cabin at the Waianpanapa State Park. Not luxurious, but clean, and very affordable...we had plenty of Heinikan to keep us happy. I really do not recomend taking the backway home from Hana. It is cattle country which is cool, but the roads are full of cow ****. I mean the bike will be a mess, and all I can say is that if I was the company who rented the bike to you, I'd charge at least $100 to wash that **** off when you give it back to the rental place. I'm serious don't take the backroad in a rental...unless you have big faith no extra charge for cow **** caked on about 3/8" thick...like near impossible to clean off.

Also on Maui is the northwest portion of the Island. From the mid island town of Maalaea, west to Lahaina and then follow it all the way around back to Kahului. It'll take you all day long to do that too.

Hawaii has no Helmet Law. We wore ours (rentals) and I know they looked totally dorky, but always wear a helmet brother...
