Default 2016 Yellowstone trip (Pic's)

This trip was made this past June. I spent almost a year in the planning stages and got a lot of good ideas from this Forum. So for those who Helped, A big Thank You! This first Segment is from Home Dallas, TX- Rocky Mountain N.P.
We headed out about 4:30am on June 18th. Had a Quick Breakfast stop about a Hour out of FT. Worth. For those who have made the Trek on US 287 Between FT. Worth and Amarillo... Well it can be a little boring. But at least we knew changes were coming on Day Two.

This is pretty much what you see, until you ride through a small town.

Cool old Building.

Finally made it To Amarillo. Yep that's me by the Blue Limited.
We only rode another 45 minutes north to Dumas for the night. Had I known what temps lay in store the next day I would have pushed on to Clayton, NM

We pulled out about 7AM the next morning and had a wide variety of temps ahead of us.

A little fog to start the day off. but hey that cleared out and it looked like we were in for a nice cool day!

On US 87 in New Mexico.

Still on 87

Things stared changing fast once we hit I-25 and headed North.
There was a heat wave going on at the time, I believe Phoenix hit like 117 on this day. Part of it stretched in to Colorado. Our plan was to have Lunch in Pueblo then head west towards Canyon City.

Started warming up!

Lunch on Fathers Day! Already 95 Degrees in Pueblo!
After a cool down and nice lunch we headed west on HWY 50. just after Canyon City we would head North, But we had some brutal Temps before that would Happen.

It might look nice but it was hot!

After a quick stop for Water In Canyon City we Turned North on 9 Towards Fairplay. It Really only seemed like 15 or 20 minutes before Temps started dropping.

Hwy 9

Cant you just feel the cooler Temps. HAHA! it was still in the 80s but felt much better

Notice the Rockies ahead of us!

That looked nice!

After making a quick stop to see if these people were ok we pushed on.

Made a Gatorade stop and changed cameras. Still a ways to go.

picked up a bug somewhere along the way on the lens.
We were heading North through Breckinridge where we picked up I-70 East for maybe 3 miles then back North. We were making our way to Steamboat Springs for the Night.

Temps were very nice now. Upper 70s.

Still working our way North

We made a stop in Kremmling, Co for a break before heading west towards Steamboat Springs. After a Good nights sleep we headed back towards R.M.N.P. the pics that follow are from that second day of our trip. These are not order of how they were taken.

Very nice, Mike. We rode some of those same roads in late August, but we had abnormally cool weather. I've been to Colorado many times, but this past trip was the coldest, and wettest.

Now, we need more pics.

We left Steamboat the next Morning heading Towards Cody, WY. Really thought this would be kinda a boring ride, but it was really some pretty Country.

A quick bite to eat and we we headed out of Steamboat

we would be turning North in Craig

Craig, CO

Our view for quite a while

cheesy pic

we stopped for a break in Muddy Gap.WY. These folks were from Germany

Heading back west again and dealing with a strong south wind, in fact it never let up on us all the way to cody.

Thanks for sharing. We did much of the same trip on our 25th anniversary. We ended up in at Waterton Park in Canada.
