Havelock NC to Yuma AZ
Here goes. I leave on Tuesday, October 3. I've discussed this briefly in other threads, but here is the overall plan. I will update as I move along, but here is the plan and we can all marvel at the beauty or stupidity as appropriate next week when it's all over with.
Tuesday, October 3, depart Havelock, NC and drive 1150 miles to Jefferson, TX. I'm taking 70W in NC to I-95 south, to I-20 East. I'll pick up a Brother Longtime in Atlanta which is abou 500 miles from here. From there, the two of us will ride through to PocoCJ's house in Jefferson, TX.
Wednesday, October 4, depart Jefferson, TX and ride 770 miles to another Brother's house in El Paso, TX.
Thursday, October 5, depart El Paso, TX, and ride 554 miles to Yuma, AZ.
It's 2400-ish miles total, 3 days. It's nuts, and I'm nuts, but that's OK.
Coming back hasn't been planned to the same level of detail yet, but I'm leaving on Monday October 9th, and getting back on Wednesday, October 11th. Coming back I will probably make the same stops, however, I will break up the 1100 miles into two days and make it in 4 days vice 3.
I just put on a set of highway pegs, I've got most everything I need, to include my check-card...weather channel shows great weather along I-20 for my intended days of travel, now all I need is the time to move along!

That's why I'm using the ol' GPS, it'll get me there.
Made a mod to the bike today to get ready...I bought the Kuryaken Switchblade Highway Pegs with the 360 degree Kuryaken mount. Took 'em for a test ride with mama tonight. I swear I don't know how I did the first 16K without them. Should have bought 'em a long time ago.

I have the Kuryakins with the heel rest, they are awesome! Ride safe Bro! Let me hear from ya! For your return planning, it is 6 hours from Spartanburg to Jacksonvile via I-26 to I-20 to I-95 to NC 74 to NC 11 to NC 53 or skip 11 & 53 and go to Willmington and 17

Well, that might work out a little better. I haven't managed to figure out how to get the jet-ski attachment on the bike that I would need to get me around the world the other way.

I'm sitting here at Skip's this is his account...(obviously)...
Rode 1167.7 miles yesterday, about 20.5 hours of riding time. I left the house at 3:50AM EST pulled into Skip's at 1120PM CST.
I picked up both of my brothers, we'll make it to El Paso tonight...
I'll give a full report when I get back, for now I want to spend a little time with Skip...

I ate breakfast with Mac & his brothers this morning, courtesy of Mac's dime. Rode with them to the turnoff to White Oak, just west of Longview. The start was probably later than Mac wanted, but they're on their way to El Paso. They're stopping on the return leg for another night, and some muttersickle maintenance. One of Mac's bros is a tough old buzzard - no windshield on his '96 Springer. Wears my sorry ol' butt out just thinkin' about it!
It was nice ridin' with 'em on the short jaunt I took. They ride tight, and I ain't had that pleasure over 20 years.
Vaya con Dios, mi amigos.
