Default Ss 1000

I did a sadle sore 1000 two years ago. Cleveland, OH east to Carlise, PA south to Wythville, VA then north to Cambridge, OH west to Columbus and home. 1144 mile just over 18 hours. I did it in April on 2007 Ultra. Was a beautiful ride especially through Virginia.

I was going to try to do the 100 & 1500 at the same time. Las Vegas to Houston (changed the route to get over the 1500 on the front end) . Made it to Santa Rosa and got tired packed it in. Made it to Houston w/ 20 min to spare for the 1500. Could not get any one to verify at the fuel stop. My brother did it for me when I got to his house. Have done close to 1000 mile days but have not documented them. Still was fun to do might try one again some time but not a burning desire.

I've done two ss1000. The first wasnt planned or documented. That was from near Gunnison, Co. To Palm Springs in 20. The last was from Ca to Co. 1148, in 22. On a Sportster with no windshield.
Yesterday I did 475 in about 10 hrs. I must be getting old. I feel it today. Boy do I feel it.

I did my SS 1000 in June 2010. Remarkably cold day. We rode from Utah County west on Highway 6 through Delta, UT then continued west through Nevada on Highway 50, the Lonliest Road, to Fernley, NV. From there we jumped on I-80 and headed back to Utah. 19 hrs, 17 minutes. Last 70 miles in the rain.

I did it with a bunch of friends. I did get a little drowsy right after lunch. I would not recommend eating a meal, just light snacks along the way. It took quite a bit of time, and I think contributed to my drowsiness. I drank a 5 hr. Energy drink and was fine after that little "pick me up". If that had not done the trick I was about to drop out.

My friend that organized the SS1000 did a border to border insanity last spring. Again had terrible weather. I think that's the one I would like to try next -- maybe the 1500.

Oh, and I know it's too late for DaveWilliams, but I will be surprised if they accept your ride without a witness. I think brockstwrt's comment was right on. Please update us, though, and let us know how it turns out for you. I also agree with those who said that the night clerk would probably have no problem signing a witness certificate for you. What else do they have to do at 0400?

I did my ride last summer, but didn't get around to sending in the docs until just a few weeks ago. Here's part of an email message I received today...

You are receiving this e-mail because of your application for a ride
certification. This note is to let you know that your ride has been
approved and although your ride documents may take a few more weeks to
arrive, your membership has also been approved and entered into the
Iron Butt Association's member database.

Welcome to the Iron Butt Association!
yeay. I'm in!

Welcome Zues. I may or maynot do a bun burner. When I start I just do.t want to stop. I'm like an alcoholic, once I start I find it hard to stop.

I was disappointed I wasn't able to do the 50cc to going there so I tried going back and able to do it in 47 hours and so many minutes. I did this with lots of preparation and started with 1000 miles in less than 24 hours and gradually to 50cc. Its impossible to do without alots of preparation and practice run.

I should get 4 certification in this run. ss1000, ss200, bb1500 and 50cc
Finally got my certificate for this run. I got 6 certificate

1 ss1000 going to daytona =1,000 miles in less than 24 hours
1 ss1500 bunburner to daytona =1,500 miles in less than 36 hours
didn't make the 50cc going there

1 ss1000 going to san diego
1 ss1500 bunburner
1 ss2000 =2,000 miles in less than 48 hours
1 50cc = coast to coast in under 50 hours

I am now thinking of doing the 100cc coast to coast to coast in less than 100 hours.

Just checking in.
