Denver to Rapid city via Yellowstone
A few of my my buddies and I are shipping our bikes from Florida to Denver then the plan is to head out into Wyoming going through Yellowstone before ending up in Rapid City for the rally. What We have mapped out is I25 out of Denver into I80 to 191 north into Yellowstone, just wondering if we would enjoy going west on I70 in through Vail and then heading north instead. Comments welcome.

My suggestion would be I-25 north to Ft. Collins. Exit 269 west to HWY 287. Take this north to Laramie Wyoming. Continue north to Medicine Bow. Then 487 to Casper. Then HWY 20/26 West to Shoshoni. Then take your choice on the rest of the way into Yellowstone, either through Thermopolis, or Riverton.
If you insist on going West on I-70, I suggest taking it to Empire then head north on HWY 40 over Berthoud Pass, up through the Grand Valley to Kremmling and over to Steamboat Springs and on to Craig and then north to Yellowstone. Have a great trip either way and ride safe.

I was in Yellowstone and Grand Teton June 7-10 and the Rockefeller Hwy connecting the two is under major
reconstruction.
They were making a lot of fast progress, but I'd check the status of this road beforehand so as to make any
time allowances if you decide to go that route.
And I'll back up Uncle Larry's suggestions having just done that a few weeks ago..

Agreed. Beartooth is a beautiful ride and a must since you are going through Yellowstone. I would HIGHLY recommend trying to work US 34 through Rocky Mtn NP in your schedule.

QC, I should have been more precise, we where going to go up the west side of Wyoming going through Jackson hole for our first night. In through Yellowstone then Cody for the second leg. Devils Tower and into rapid city, where we will stay for a few days and then back to Denver. Thats why I was asking about going west on 70 and then heading north instead of 25 north to 80 west and then jumping onto 191 which takes you right through where we're thinking. Thanks for the suggestions.
