You may want to stay at Casino. You can see the museum and Miller park from there. Plus there's a lot going on in the casino.
I'm not sure if the hotel is finished yet. It's close to being done I think.

Milwaukee isnt that big so it really doesnt matter. Personally I would stay iron horse and drive to tye game. Nothing decent around the stadium. (I have been gone 8 yrs now)

Its a great city. I can spend a week eating my way across it. The german polish and italian ethnic influences make for great food. Its definatly a harley town. As long as your not in the hard core ghetton your bike wont get touched. Cops rarely bother bikes. Its the only city I know I can run flat out with open straight pipes and never get looked at. I rode ten years in that town without a bike license and was never once pulled over. Nothing like pulling up next to cips riding harleys and draging them off the line with open exhaust.

If your staying a while there is an extended stay just off hwy100 and north I think. Its close to harley and has a kitchenett and better rates for the week. You can definatly spend a week riding in WI its a beautiful state............. in the summer

I saw the Bat Signal in the sky. Actually Riteway PM'd me.

You've received excellent info. The Iron Horse, is indeed, the premier hotel in Milwaukee and it's also a motorcycle themed one. The rooms are very very nice. It's an easy walk to the Museum as well. It is pricey. Figure between $300-$500 a night. It's outdoor parking, but it's secure and under "bike ports", i.e. somewhat protected from the elements. The restaurant is decent and the bar is a big draw pretty much any given night of the summer, but especially on Thursdays which are "Bike Nights". Thursday is also Bike Night at the museum and weather permitting, the crowds are big, but fun. If you can schedule it, you should try to attend.

Back to the Iron Horse - it's probably the closest (acceptable) hotel to the stadium. One can run Canal street west right into the stadium and it's actually one of the less traveled access routes. The traffic is a factor, but compared to many cities, Milwaukee's traffic is easily managed. If it were me, I would ride the motorcycle. If you plan on drinking at the game and don't want to ride, a taxi is an easy way to get there and will cost you about $15 bucks each way.

Other than the Iron Horse, any hotel in the downtown area will work just fine. The usual chains are there - Hyatt, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Wyndham, Aloft, etc. There are some local favorites that are up scale - the Metro (call to check on parking motorcycles) and the Pfister (where the visiting teams usually stay). If you like the idea of an Irish Bed and Breakfast/hotel there's the County Clare which is run and owned by, yes, people from Ireland. It's pretty nice. They have a good bar/restaurant that Cheryl and I visit on occasion.

You can save some coin by staying out of the city a bit. As mentioned, good deals can be had by the airport as well as north and west of the city. Milwaukee is an easy city to get around and unless it's rush hour, you're rarely more than 20 minutes from anywhere you want to be. That said, if you don't mind spending a little more, stay downtown or at the Iron Horse. There is so much to do in those areas that it simplifies things simply by having the best Milwaukee has to offer around every corner.

Milwaukee is a great city. We have great restaurants, bars, and events. Hopefully the weather cooperates and you have a great time. And even if it does rain, they'll just close the roof on the stadium and turn on the A/C.

Feel free to PM me for details.

My wife usually gets us a room in Wauwatosa, on Priceline for less than $100. Nice hotel, safe, and right outside the city.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like everybody likes The Iron Horse. I'll pitch that to the other guys. It's pricey, and we're on the road about 18 days, so I try to economize a little - but it definitely looks nice.

We are riding, for sure. I was just thinking about not riding to a Brewers game. I don't want to be in bumper-to-bumper stop and go if I can avoid it. Bikes to the museum, for sure.

We're coming from the west. This ride is year 3 of a three-year plan to ride all 48 states. We rode the southwest states in 2012, so we're just busting our tails to get to San Fran. The wives meet us there, and we ride up a bunch of the PCH, see the Redwoods, hit Washington, then head east. Hell's Canyon (that's a question for another thread), Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Chief Joseph Highway, Beartooth Highway, Mount Rushmore and some good roads around The Black Hills, then on to Milwaukee.

We rode the northeast states in 2013, so we did as much of Skyline drive and. BRP as we wanted. Went to Niagara Falls, then stayed in Canada and came out near Detroit, so we missed the east side of Lake Michigan.

This is great to know - because I had us routed right through Chicago. By this point in the trip, we will be running out of time and just need to make miles to get closer to home. But I'll find a way to miss Chicago.

Thanks again for all of the help. Almost finished routing. I leave Orlando on June 25. Can't wait. I'm ready to ride.

I get what Jay72 is saying, but from Milwaukee, if you're heading south or east, Chicago is a necessary evil. It almost looks as if you would be departing Milwaukee Sunday morning. If so, Chicago is a piece of cake. I would (and have many times) run 94 down right through the city and pick up the Skyway (I-90) south of downtown. As a for instance, I can leave Milwaukee and be in Indiana in 2.25 hours on a Saturday/Sunday easy. It's your most expedient route south or east. Any other time you would take the 294 bypass down to I-80. Even on a Monday morning that is a pretty safe bet. Ok....maybe not safe because you don't need to worry about stop and go as much as traveling at 80 MPH+ with everyone else on the road.

Chicago is massive. Trying to avoid it will be very time consuming. Considering your experience, you will have no problem dealing with it.

Or....you can avoid the whole mess and take the High Speed Ferry and leave from Michigan -
