I'll be traveling to Rockford, IL this summer and I'd like to find a hotel I'll feel safe leaving my bike in the parking lot overnight. Anyone have any suggestions?

No suggestions for hotels in the area, sorry. But do make sure you ride down HWY 2 while there. It runs along the river for a long ways and it's a pretty ride.

The mid-cost hotels are around I39 and Route 20.... Nice hotels right off the highway, you will be in the east side of Rockford, pretty safe side of town.
Also plenty of restaurants within half a mile of the hotels and close to a mall.

Hey Crazy thats my home town. Giacomo is right stay on the east side. You won't have any issues if you stay at one of the many big name hotels off of State St. near I90. Like Giacomo said plenty of restaurants near by as well. If you let me know more info on your plans I can help steer you in the right direction.
