HD rental in Phoenix Arizona, Review of Buddy Stubbs HD
I just rented from Buddy Stubbs HD in Phoenix last week.
Here is what to expect. They will rent the bike to you but thats all you get. They know they are the only rental guy around and dont really give a **** about you, just like all the other HD dealers so it par for the course. The rental guy knew NOTHING about the new 2014 touchscreen radio/navigation system on the new touring models. You would think that HD would train the person trying to explain the system to you. DO NOT try to operate this system while riding! Stop and do it before you try riding. If you think texting and driving is bad this is a whole new kind of dangerous while riding these bikes! BE safe and enjoy the ride.
Both bikes, Street Glide and Ultra Limited, had the new Harley Touchscreen system that controls the GPS and radio. I am very computer oriented and use GPS in my transportation service everyday. Harleys setup is EXTREMELY complicated! The average person for the age group of these bikes are going to have a problem using it. I had trouble figuring it out and of course they dont give you an owners manual to use. I had the guy from rentals come out and he could not figure it out. He in turn had a service guy come out and he did not know how to use it. Then another tech guy came out and installed an "update" to the system....Why would you have to update the software on a brand new bike! He in turn told me "it was a piece of garbage that Harley should never have put on the bikes and he didnt know how to use it", cursed it a few times then went back inside. Now I was on my own. It was constantly innacurrate and could not even find Las Vegas HD when I used the " Find A dealer" option on the screen. It dropped me in the middle of the hood in Las Veags and a cop escorted me out of it and to the dealer that was 2 miles away! (Thank you to the cool cop.) Not to mention, if it ever breaks its going to be EXPENSIVE!
My opinion, they will rent the bike to you but its up to you to do everything else. Dont expect anything else. Ride well my friends!

My buddy flew in and rented from Arrowhead HD just a few weeks ago for AZ Bike week.
He always has a good experience there, but when he turned the bike in he was told that as of May 2014 they will no longer be renting bikes.
We were told that Arrowhead HD belongs to a dealership "group" (and I believe that includes Chandler HD) and that the entire group was no longer going to rent due to a law suit involving a rental somewhere out of state, at another dealership that is part of that group.
Buddy Stubbs may be one of the few left, that rents bikes anymore

They are not the only rental guys around. I know for a fact that Chandler HD rents, as does Chesters HD. I know they are on the other side of Phoenix, but they do rent.
I miss Arizona and the valley area. Riding up to Globe or Mnt Lemmon, or 89A or even out to Tortilla flats is just awesome riding. If anyone is heading in that direction for the first time I would recommend any of those rides.
