Default Handlebar Height on 48 State Ride

Planning a cross country trip. The following states have handlebar height restrictions that my bars violate. Have any of you had trouble when passing through?

Alabama
Delaware
Georgia
Louisiana
Maryland
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
Nebraska
Ohio
Rhode Island
Texas
Vermont
West Virgina

My bars are 16" monkey bars, and are below my shoulders.

Thanks for any input you may have.

Default handlebar height

I'm running 16" on my streetbob here in Ohio, they are even with my shoulders, they are illegal, but heck so are the stock ones measuring from the seat. that being said I've never been stopped.

WV hasn't been enforcing the handlebar law unless you are stopped for something else. Depends on what branch LEO pulls you over.

Hell I didn't know Texas had handlebar laws. That's news to me. I'm running 18" apes and have never been so much as glanced at.

For that anyway...

Thanks for those responses. Anyone have any experience with the other states?

I thought it didn't matter as long as your bike is legal in the state that its licensed in.

I haven't looked at all of the statutes -- just the summaries on website -- but I have looked at a few. Those that I've looked at prohibit the operation of a motorcycle on the highways with bars of a height greater than what's allowed.

I expect that whereas my bars are not outrageously tall and are within the law in my state and about 40 others, I shouldn't have too much trouble. Still, if somebody from one of the states above (or who has travelled through) knows that their state tends to strictly enforce handlebar laws, I would sure appreciate a heads up.

Thanks all.

For what it worth The bars I had on my Superglide had my hands a couple inches above my sholders and had no problems in Missouri,Iowa,Wyoming,Montana or South Dakota (durring rally)

I don't have apes, but a friend had some and my mechanic had some of the tallest I have ever seen. No problems in MS.
