Yes I plan on going from Stanley through garden valley over to McCall. Coming from McCall I was thinking down to Boise and than up hwy 21. But there is road construction on that. So than I was thinking of the 307 road from Emmett into Idaho city to pass the road construction. Either way I will be hitting the roads you guys are saying so I will be all good. If I need to back track a little this won't hurt me

Hwy 20 from the ID/MT stateline (near Yellowstone) through Island Park to Ashton. Take a short (5 mi) detour to Big Springs. From Ashton you can go to upper/lower Mesa Falls on Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Stunning. You can see the Tetons in the distance. Beautiful country.

Get down and ride in SE idaho. Soda springs, wayan, etc. Ride through tin cup canyon to star valley, wy, up through Hoback canyon to jackson, then over Teton pass back into idaho.

Soda springs has great history, good eats, and a couple decent motels, along with a couple not so decent motels. The enders bldg has a great restaurant, offers nice rooms, has a museum/gift shop, and is right next to the only captive geyser in the world. Lots of Oregon trail history, good weather, and awesome scenery on good roads.

I did most of my growing up there.

I drove 21 last Monday in a rental car....

The construction was improving ditch. Just a few short couple hundred yard stretches with flag man, no traffic so only stopped momentarily at some, not all at others.

Nice road, out of Boise it politely gives you a chance to get your cornering skills back gradually.

I was new to any part of Idaho and was fairly amazed. One wonder was the reverse vegetation line on the mountains. I hope to ride a good bit there one day.

Oh good 21 should be ok. I just won't have enough time to go south of Alpine where I plan on staying a night. But thanks for the tip. Sounds like I will be in for a treat. After being to northern Idaho it will be fun to see what the southern end is like

And the good news is it is cooling off a bit! It was 101 yesterday here in the valley. Seems to be dropping down to mid to low 90's. Which isn't too bad if you are moving.
Remember to stay hydrated brother, it's a dry heat.

Dang that's warm. Ya I can handle low 90s but 100s no way. It can't be that warm up in the hills?

Yes it will be cooler! LOL Usually it should run high 80's to low 90's up in the hills. When you are moving you usually don't notice the heat so much. Keep hydrated though, lots of water and make sure you get something like Gatorade or salt tablets.

I think you missed those temps by about a month I'm afraid. I too wish it was in the 70's. Today is 100 in the valley.
