Minnesota Hwy16 Scenic Byway Closed at Lanesboro
July 2014 - Just a heads up for anyone headed to Sturgis through Minnesota:
Wife and I decided to get off I-90 at the Minnesota/Wisconsin border and take the Hwy 16 scenic bypass that would rejoin I-90 at Dexter. First, the westbound exit ramp is under construction at I-90, so we had to go down to the next ramp and do a U-turn. Then, we were cruising along and came to Lanesboro. Road closed, no warning signs until you get right to it, bridge is out, detoured a long ways to the south. Got caught in a nasty storm with some hail for our troubles.
The ride is very nice if you're not in a hurry, once they get the road fixed.

I never noticed that it went all the way to 90....we come south on 52 then east on 16 to lacrosse........33 from the dells area west to lacrosse then 16 to 90 that be a sweet ride but time wise you will not make sturgis in day light if your taking that rd....if you stayed in chamberline or something like that you have plenty time to slow down and take that rd
