Default North Dakota Wind

I rode Rt 200 in ND to Bemidji MN today and got hammered by strong cross winds. I've had some wind during this trip, but not much to speak of. I started to feel a significant cross wind before taking a snack break. When I came back out, the wind was continuously strong with some big gusts. Made me a little anxious riding. Don't care for it. I just scooched over a bit to the right in my seat and leaned the bike during gusts. I was told to expect wind in this area, but is this the norm? Has anyone else experienced this in the same area? The only other times I have experienced unrelenting winds were crossing the Nevada desert and also while rIding from Death Vally to Lone Pine.

Came thru that same area last year from Glacier NP, there was wind from eastern MT all the way to the KOA in Bemidji.

Did you ride thru Wiiliston ND?

i have seen the winds so bad that the interstates were closed in arizona a couple of times... trucks blown over and the sand made it hard to see. drop down a gear and lean into the wind--still better than riding in the rain all day.

Some areas are like that. I have rode 89 between Flagstaff and Page that required "hard " leaning into the wind and also areas around Glamis that were brutal.

I live in South Dakota.

We have a theory that our state really does not exist.

It is just North Dakota blowing through in the morning and Wyoming blowing through in the afternoon.

It's all caused by the fact that Iowa sucks so bad.

No, I avoided it due to what I've heard about the oil traffic there. I did RT 200. However, Watford City traffic was no bargain. Probably better than Williston though.
