Default Quick question about 209 from Port Jervis to Pottsville/81

Thinking of using Rt 209 in this area as part of my route to Front Royal (then heading down 81 for speed)

thoughts?

209 through the Delaware Water Gap is a nice area. I'm not sure when you plan to ride through. 2 things I can think of: Jim Thorpe is a nice area, but can be congested, as can 81 around Harrisburg. Have a fun/safe trip. Skyline Drive is a nice ride.

Thanks xsarge!!

Sorry for the late reply. Thinking of going through there next Sunday. Will stay in Port Jervis our first night and then this will be our second day route to Skyline start on Monday. Plan to do the whole BRP top to bottom and back as well (not back on Skyline just N to S). Then probably jump on 81 at top of BRP and head back home over the following weekend.

Hi xsarge,

Just realized I never responded back on this. Much of 209 was a good ride and Jim Thorpe was actually pretty smooth riding and I really liked the town. Lot of those towns really squeezed into the mountain valleys along the way. Yeah, 81 was loaded with trucks, as expected, right around Harrisburg but we cruised through no problem. Something about 81 in Maryland felt weird (though it is a short stretch) like everything was tighter on the highway, couldn't pinpoint exactly what. Anyway, trip was cool, we loved the Blueridge and I will post a writeup with pics this winter (saw some of the most dense fog ever on Skyline drive, thank god they had freshly painted the yellow lines). Thinking of heading back down next year then over to Natchez Trace as part of the return north. Will be posting for some input on a GA to Mississippi (No Pigeon Forge) route to the forum shortly. Also want to find a route N/S and back through West VA as I hear it is sweet riding. Well, thanks for your input on the last trip!!

Dave

Glad you had a great time - looking forward to your write-up. I'm planning on heading down to TN via Blue Ridge Pkwy/Skyline Drive next year.
