going out west and planning the route. takes me thru the moki dugway

has anybody done that road and if so, how was it

problem is here in chicago the highest things we have are bridges and they just aren't that high

and i am a bit (more than a bit) scared of heights

Mark...if you just type in moki in search you'll find a bunch of photos and ride reports. Good reading.

It's an awesome place to visit. Did it on my 03 Ultra. Amazing views. Just take your time going down or up and you'll be fine. There is almost no traffic, so you'll most likely have the road to yourself.

If you have the route mapped out, put on here, we can give you some advice.....there were a few roads that blew my mind, when we did the four corner states...

By the way. Jmbaker3 posted a video of his trip to the top.....search this forum and see it.

I have done it in a car some years ago. Wouldn't be wild about it on a bike because I just don't like gravel. Don't mind riding on it so much as I don't like the chance of rock pits.

I just rode down the Moki Dugway Saturday, on my electraglide, wife on the back, and pulling a trailer behind me ! 1st gear 10mph. no problem ! Theres a few places with some rocks in the rode, musta got washed out with all the rain recently, but just pick your way past em ! The Views are spectacular !!!

Hi Mark10. I am really afraid of heights too. I have my wife paint the high parts on our house! We did the Moki Dugway last June two up fully loaded. I wrote about it here https://www.hdforums.com/forum/road-...-and-back.html and have more details here. http://www.motoforever.com. The Moki Dugway part was pretty cool. We did the downhill way and ran past a couple of bikes going up. Just keep it slow and smooth and you won't have a problem. The road is very good condition, it is dirt, but smooth and flat. They really keep it in good condition. I let my wife take pictures so I could look at them later, but did have my GoPro on the whole time. Way more memorable was visiting Monument Valley just past Mexican Hat. We stayed at the San Juan in Mexican Hat, then went to Monument valley first thing in the morning. Get a jeep guide and you'll be glad you did. Well worth it. Check out my post for other things to in that area.

Ride Safe!
