Took an entire month to ride it but it was all worth it. Traveled from Georgia to Chicago, Down Route 66 to Amarillo, Tx, up to Coeur D'alene, Idaho, across Washington state to the coast, Down the 1 and 101 to San Francisco, headed for New Orleans then Jacksonville, FL and up to Virginia. Came back to Georgia through the Blue Ridge mountains. Trip of a Lifetime.
Me thinks, May would be better than June or wait till September.
i would think that september and october would be the best 2 months to be on the road...could be cold in the mountains and northern states, but over all excellent weather in most of the country.
What is your reason for favoring May over June? Is it because of warm weather or some other reason? Not disputing your idea, just picking your brain. My experience with the northern section of the country is that you can expect snow and cold temps at any time after mid September.
