Default Big Louie Baffle choices

Just installed my Big Louies with 2" baffles today. I have a 103 with cams and a Fuel Moto 2-1-2 header. They sound amazing. Deep rumble and smooth sound w/o being harsh. I am happy with my purchase.

Was on the fence between the 2" and 2 1/4" baffles. I know the 2 1/2" will be too loud. Is there any sound comparison videos out there? I can't find anything. Any DB testing done? It could be a little louder than it is now without bothering me. My previous pipes had a DB test done so just looking for something to compare it to so I can decide if it is worth trying the 2 1/4".

With stock cat headpipes my previous mufflers were 81.3 db at idle and 94.0 using test standards. Thanks!!

IMO I don't think the 2.5's would be too loud. I have no numbers to support but I can tell you what I experienced. Until 3 months ago I was running Rush BL with 3" baffles on a stock head pipe (with cat). I did a simple stage 1 with gutted headpipe and 2.25's and it sounds damn near the same as the 3", if anything quieter.

You might also check whether you'll have the needed back pressure running 2.5's. I'm pretty sure I read in the Rush forum 2's and 2.25" are optimum for stage 1 and higher.

Yeah I wasn't really considering the 2.5" due to the backpressure issue also. I know they say the 2" and 2 1/4" make better #'s.

I started out with 2". Just wasn't happy with the sound. I went with 2.25" and there are just right with my stage 2 setup.

Thanks just what I wanted, someone who has used both. Did the 2.25" change the tone or just the volume of the sound?

Impala, I am running the Rush Big Louies on a 14 SGS stock header. I removed the baffles completely and added the DK customs Thunder Torque Inserts to bring back my low and mid torque. Love the sound now but YMMV.

Here's a vid, the TG is a Performance Plus Stage I with Rush slip-ons and TTI's.

It can give you an idea of how deep the tone can be.

Tone and volume is better. The 2" had some reversion on deceleration that I couldn't stand. I don't have that with the 2.25". I may have given up a little tq on the bottom, but I'll take sound I like over a few pds of tq. Just my

Ordered the 2 1/4. For $67 with free shipping it was worth a try. I am 90% happy with my mufflers so I hope this will make them perfect. Thanks for the help.

I wish I would've gone with the 2.25" to begin with. Was afraid it was gonna be too much. What's another $68...
