Question 2015 Limited Tour-Pak Removal

Looking to remove my tour-pak to set it up for solo riding. I will probably just take it off and not use the quick detach setup. Does anyone have tips/tricks they learned from doing this?

Tip: Go back and buy a Street Glide.

If it was me I would look into the brackets that let you slide the trunk forward over the back seat and keep it on. Then if you do won't to put a passenger on you just slide it back into place.

That's a good idea. I didn't even think of a solo mount for it. Thanks.

Not to be a PITA, but to buy a limited and remove the Tourpak, all the mounting brackets, backrest brackets, wiring to the saddlebags & tourpak, install smaller seat, etc. just so you would have a Street Glide with lowers is not a small job without pitfalls. When you remove stuff from the wiring how does that effect the security system? Will it arm? Will it lock the bike? What you going to do with all the wiring? All that won't fit under the seat! Just buy a CVO street glide and save some $.

I'm with you. I like options, I like riding without but unlike you I'll want it on for 2up. There is a comprehensive post on another forum dedicated solely to CVO's titled: Converting tour pack to Quick Detach. Google is your friend. "CVO Converting tour pack to Quick Detach" will get you there.

I'll be doing this next winter along with whatever other tweaks the summer shows I need done.

The author provides an option for detachable with the parts for riding solo with the TP as well.

It is a comprehensive list of parts, with a pictorial.

Parts:
HD Parts list:
4-Point Docking Hardware 52300353 159.95
Solo TP rack mount 53000225 209.95
2-up rack mount 53000221 199.95
Individual pin connectors 73191-96
3-Pin Receptacle Housing: 73153-96BK
Curved license plate frame 67900008 89.95

Optional parts
Custom Dynamics Break Turn module GEN SMARTTPUBCM 89.95
http://www.customdynamics.com/tailconversion_kit.htm
Custom Dynamics Red LED signal bulbs 1156 (single element and pin) bullet style
Front Custom Dynamic Ringz

Another respondent suggests using a 12 pin Deutch plug/jack rather than two small ones. I'm thinking that's a good option to eliminate a big coil of wire under the seat pan.

All the wiring fits under the seat and you can keep the lock unlock feature on the saddle bags. The TP bolts on with 4 bolts, really easy to take on and off.

I relocated the license plate with a $15 bracket off a stock SG.

Really easy. Cost only adds up if you go with the detachable rack and buy expensive plate re-locators etc...
