Default Is the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide Worth it?

I'm thinking about getting a CVO FLHTCU. After it's all said and done, do you really get your monies worth? Or am I better off buying a standard and adding on as needed?

If have the money available and not a wrencher yes it worth it.. Myself went the EGS route saving 5K right of the top by getting a leftover 08 although was wanting an 09 Street Glide.. With that 5K have added Color, Custom Floorboards and Grips, Stage 1 Power with True Duals, Quick Detach Tourpack/Backrest and still have a little left over yet for more...

If you do the math and add up all of the extras, plus the cost of a plain bike, plus any time that you the dealership or your indy put into installing the "extras" it is worth it,...money wise,...BUT on the other hand it is a factory bike, not a custom, not made as you would have done it. In my case it worked for me, but there are several out there just like mine, so I am still trying to change mine to be different.

I poured a ton of money into my last bike and was never satisfied. This bike required no changes but I did manage to add some very minor items. I didn't want a custom bike, just one with a little more power and all the goodies

If resale value means anything to you it is worth it, you can put ten grand in a regular UC and you wont get any of it when you sell it. A CVO will hold its more expensive vale better.

Fireman44, you are right about not getting money back. I put 10K into my 07, and it looks like the only one that will get the benefit of the money, is me. I think I will bit the bullet and get the SE. Thanks for all of the input.

Just purchased a 09 CVO Ultra, the red one. I love it. I did put Rush mufflers on and reflashed. Runs and looks great. If the rain ever stops maybe I can put some miles on it. Leave for New Orleans on May 21, so I'll finally will get a couple miles wet or dry.

I couldn't justify the $41K+ price tag of the '08 Screamin' Eagle UltraClassic. So, I bought the "plain Jane" UltraClassic on the showroom floor and had the 110 cid CVO motor with V & H pipes at the dealership (Great South Harley Davidson). Final price tag was $31K, so I saved $10K for whatever extra bling and whatevers I would add in the future.

I test rode one of these at CA bike week, and was greatly surprised by how nicely it rode.
