The BEST package for the 2007 FXSTS-SE
I'm trying to get the best and latest info from all you smart folks - for equipping my 2007 FXSTS-SE.
I have seen a lot of ideas batted around on the posts here.
I'm trying to get it all in one place for all of us.
3 big areas of Question:
1. AIR CLEANER - I thought the 2007 FXSTSSE is supposed to be already equipped with a free flowing air cleaner.
Does it still need the Screaming Eagle Pro Air Cleaner and Breather Kit 29440-99D ?
Will the CVO 110 breather cover fit with the SE AC if it is needed ?
2. FUEL CONTROL/RACE TUNER - Is just remapping the Fuel Control to a new curve by the Dealer enough ?
- OR - do you need to go all the way to the 32107-01F Screaming Eagle Pro EFI Race Tuner ?
- OR - is the 32136-06A Screaming Eagle Pro EFI Race Fueler enough ?
3. EXHAUST - The 2007 Screaming Eagle Race Catalog's ONLY recommendation for the FXSTS-SE 110ci on the Screaming Eagle EFI Performance Configuration pages (pg21) is a Free Flowing Exhaust.
Is it better to change to the SE Street Performance Slip-on's 80497-07 ?
- OR - just remove and modify (or replace) the stock baffles that are in the stock mufflers ?
(they are easy to remove - I took mine out in about 5 minutes today)
I appreciate any and all replies and info.
Does anyone have any better combinations for the FXSTSSE?
Thanks a bunch,
Mike

I have the V&H Big Radius on mine (2-2) And it looks and sounds fantastic. Only problem... everyone seems to be getting them now. I see them on alot of bikes near me. If I were to buy new I would be looking at Martin Bros new one. Same kind of style but it is twisted. Looks sweet, I think.

You've got the SE A/C kit on the bike now, but I would recommend replacing the filter element with a K&N 0800, as the HD filter will fall apart on you over time. The K&N will last forever for all practical purposes.
If it were my bike, after discussing with the dealer, I would buy the SERT and have the bike Dyno tuned after 1K miles. The Powercommander will be out soon for the 08's, so that is another option. Use what your tuner is most comfortable with.
I personally do not think fuel only tuners like the Race Fueler are a good idea...they can get you by, but you cannot really tune the bike well enough with one of those type systems, IMO. You cannot adjust the timing and other variables with a Fuel only device.
Pipes are very subjective...modifying baffles can create more problems than they solve, other than making the bike louder. I have seen the Vance and Hines Big Radius 2 into 1 pipe on your bike and it looks awesome, IMO. Also not obnoxiously loud. Selection of a pipe on your bike is more about looks/sound...some pipes may leave a couple of HP/TQ on the table, but it is not a significant amount, so go with what looks/sounds good to you.
Most importantly, if you change pipes, get the bike tuned...the 110 is already VERY, VERY lean, and if you flow more air, it's just going to make it leaner.

I put Vance and Hines staggered big shots on my 08 SE Springer and the SERT. The guys did a nice job tuning it, more power and noise. I have two bikes with the same exhaust and love the sound. Hope this helps.

RE: The BEST package for the 2007 FXSTS-SE
you don't need an aircleaner unless you're changing the cams...the stock aircleaner flows plenty...i like the d&d fatcat 2 into 1 exhaust with the quiet baffle...the best exhaust made...if you don't want to spend $600, then i'd suggest rush, vance and hines, or cycle shack slip-on's...find the best dyno tuner in your area and get the sert or power commander, whichever he recommends
