Likewise on my 04 K1200RS. I am very happy doing 55-80 on my 98 WG and 5-30 on my 72 Trail 90. It's what they do well. Every time I think about going fast on my Harley I am reminded of the time when I taped a bottle rocket to the top of a Hot Wheel - didn't work like I wanted it to.

 

ECM programming limits rpm, not speed. On a dyno, with zero wind resistance, max rpm with the stock map is around 5,200 or so, around 160 mph in 6th gear.

No Harley will do that on the road, out in the wind.
