cvo tires street glide

All of JP's tires in that size are load rated at 74.
They're not made for the higher weight of the HD Touring bikes.
In all honesty, I think most owners would agree that the stock Dunlop 408 performs really well on the 18" rear of the CVOs.
I know I've been getting about 15K out of a back tire. Maybe even more, but I change early sometimes because of long trips, in excess of 4000 miles....

I'm not certain of the Ultra Classic. Here is the comparison:
http://www.1010tires.com/About/Tire-Tech#LoadRatings
A 74 load index is rated to 827lbs.
A 80 load index is rated to 990lbs.
I have an extra tire sitting in my garage waiting to go on. The max load is indicated at 992lbs on the sidewall.
It is HD part number 44006-09, which is the stock tire for an 18" FLTRXSE/FLHXSE/FLHRSE, etc.
This particular tire is an 80H.
I don't know what the rear wheel weight is for a HD touring bike, but I don't think I'd run a tire rated at 160+ lbs lower.

I have been looking at different tires for my CVO street glide. The hd dunlops cup around 8,000 miles. I have tired different tire pressures but it still cups. I just changed it and had to use the HD high dollar dunlop tire. $293 ouch. That is just for the tire mind you. If someone has tried other brands with success please post up.

Are you running the same size tire on your bike as what the OP is? You siggy indicates you have an '07. Tires on the old frame are a whole lot different than the newer one.
Surdyke offers the correct stock tire for 20% off.
I get mine at my local dealer for 20% off and I don't have to worry about it being a tire that sat around for a few years.

My 13 RG CVO rear tire is scalloping pretty badly, still has plenty of rubber but rides like crap, front is good, bike has 11K on it and the tires. Been looking for an alternative to the Dunlop’s, really don't like them (for many reasons), cost is not one of them.
Was hoping by now that one of the other manufactures had stepped up, not seeing it so far. Really wanted to go with a Radial as opposed to the Bias Ply that comes on the bike.
