Default Recommendations on a carb conversion.

I bought a '79 FLHT a few months back and have been unable to revive the original Keihin butterfly carb. I'm looking to change out the carb and intake and upgrade. Should I go with the S & S, modified S & S(Zipperz), or Mikuni?

stock S&S is easy to tune and works very well on a shovel - you have a stock bike a modded carb will eat fuel and maybe hurt the engine in the end

CV carb works as well and gets good fuel mileage

i have installed both and both do what the customer wanted

For my Geezer Glide, I use the CV, for my Superglide I really like the original Butterfly ScreaminChikin/Andrews FlowMaster. I also Use a Bendix on most IronHeads or Restorations. Available New from Zenith Fuel Systems. The S&S ...I have taken at least 2 Off, But, These were Not "performance" applications. Most Performance applications, I am Likely to go S&S. The Mikuni?? I know Basically nothing , but the Price!!!!

BTWI have never seen an "HT" from '79, thought they started the Rubbermount in '80???Pictures Please.
If it is Rubbermounted...Mount the carb Both at the Center bolt [of the case] and at least one support [generally from the rockerbox] to the aircleaner. That Mount to the Aircleaner is Mandatory.

I replaced my CV on a stock 82 shovel with an S&S super E. Very happy with it. The response and power gain was very noticeable.

Are you saying the CV was stock on an '82???
More likely a Ka-Sneeze...butterfly Keihin.
