Started a teardown already on this bike. Biggest concern that I have should I leave the "Forking by Frank" front suspension that is bit longer than stock or replace with stock that I have. I really dig the longer tubes though.........

Clean sled why tear it down at all ? My personal preference is 2 to 4 over forks also I like the extra ground clearance. Pipes gotta go shovels don't like those extra long 2 inchers like that , they never carb right always a big flat spot that won't tune out and the bike will feel sluggish.

It is a super cool bike but I feel I want to make it way cooler. Want to bring it back, just the front end is one puzzle to my game. I did few of those and feel there are barely any 1975 left therefore here is my latest 1975 creation below and this is going in similar direction........

Lotta non OEM stuff on that bike (your pic in #3 is way cool). Why not just ride it rathe than spend a gazillion semolian trying to get it to replicate your 75 FXE?

Heck I would just replace the exhaust and ride the heck outta it.

Another thing is that some 75 FX models still had the Kyaba fork tubes. They may be hard to find stock length. They are not interchangeable with the Showa tubes used on later models.

Hmmm...If ya want stock Kayaba Forks...LMK.
But, I'm gonna say...the bike you have is just a bit nicer than the bike you show that you want...Except those GodAwful Pipes...Put some real exhaust on what you have...be Very [very] Happy.
I would

Beautiful machine either way. I think I'd lose the pipes and probably that huge *** seat. Of course, I like that stock look also.

I've got 2" over tubes ( By Frank ) on my 79 FXEF and they work well, look good, and I get a lot of "What have you done to the front end? Looks good"

I think 2+ tubes is just right, too
