Default question about valve adjustments

I have posted about this once before and not really got an answer. When adjusting tappets its seems to be common practice to make sure the corresponding tappet wether it be exhaust or intake for it to be at its opposite. When one is at its lowest the other valve on the other cylinder is coming to its highest. Makes sence however i have noticed that there is no appreciable up and down movent of the lowest tappet for as much as 60 degrees of rotation or more. So my question is why not set that lowest tappet when its at the lowest regardless of the height of the other?

It's all the same. You just need the lifter to be on the base of the lobe. When one is open, the other is closed. That's why its explained that way

Sorry...I have Never [Ever] done it that way...Having Dragbikes, we always do it [valve adjustments] with the piston on the "power" stroke. ie. Both valves are closed and the piston is at about tdc.
Both valves should be closed at this time so...adjust them...then roll 'er over to the next cylinder...and do that one.
Course...I only been doing it this way for 30 years...maybe something has Changed!!!!
YMMV

There are several "correct" methods that can be followed. Some are "more correct" than others. Maybe this will help you. Pretty basic. Good Luck.
