Obsolete Parts, who knows where to get stuff besides Ebay?
I'm looking for stock pistons for my 84 Shovel. The only place that I can find any are in the Netherlands http://www.jwboon.nl/, and they won't friggin ship to The USA or Canada! I found one NOS piston at http://www.cyclewarehouseonline.com/ which is half way to getting this bike back together. I would really appreciate knowing where I might try. FYI, 21990-80A is a stock piston, and Eagle Iron 21990-80T is a Taiwan made cheap piston that Harley used to sell. Watch out for that big T at the end of their part numbers.

I called a big dealer in St. Louis that listed the part numbers on the web that I was looking for. The guy told me that Harley dealers get regular visits from buyers that clean out their slow moving and obsoleted inventory. This guy said that if they didn't do this, dealers would be stuffed with parts that hardly or never sell. I need to find out who has parts like Gold Member. That guy in the Netherlands has a fortune in new old stock, I can't believe the **** he has on his site. I think he won't sell to the USA or Canada is because he wants to supply Western Europe with parts, and keep US hot wing eaters out of their stash!

when harley went to the 80 inch motor the fuel we had was still leaded / the new fuel was unleaded and the original piston material it was made from and the piston ring thickness was 5 /32 5/32 X 3 /16 - all that was available and it worked BUT sort of then -- unleaded fuel became a norm and the grade and quality was going away, in the bike shop we had lots of issues keeping them the engines from smoking and scuffing the cylinder walls ( heat and lack of lube oil had not followed at the same speed as the fuel changes ) so in the after market USA made the material was changed to eliminate the tin from the piston and reduce the ring size to 1/16 1/16 X 3 /16 and that is still used today even the twinkies pistons sooo
I like the mid usa piston for the shovel pan knuckels iron heads even evos as the material is an exact copy to the original developed in this country to fix the original issue --
it is not in your best interest to go back to what stopped working many years ago just my take been doing this 2 weeks now
