Default 1997 FLHT front end on 1978 FXS

Got the '97 FLHT on my 1978 1/2 FXS Lowrider yesterday. New seals and painted the sliders. I had a 1986 Wide Glide front end on it for several years, but got tired of the bike being jacked up 6" too tall. I really like the new lower front end. It is closer to the way it was originally. The narrow original front end was just too light for my big a$$. Still have the brake calipers and fender to mount. Found most of the parts on CL and E-bay.

Looking good; what exhaust system is that?

The exhaust is home made. I used an old set of drag pipes, a 90s model FLH* muffler, and a piece of truck exhaust pipe on the end. The muffler is mostly gutted and acts an expansion chamber. I also the front of two old Sportster mufflers to form the inlet. Was just going to clamp the inlets, but decided to weld everything into one piece. It's not tuned of course, but it sounds great and the engine runs really well.

Finally got back on my shovelhead front end swap. Had to pick up a crash and dent fender from e-bay. Some body work and paint and it looks okay till I repaint the whole bike next year.Took some playing around with spacers to get everything lined up. Some more fun with brake lines and fittings. The old brake system didn't use banjo fittings like the newer stuff. All in all, things worked out pretty well.

I am a little confused, is that actually a 1997 FLST front end with FLHT lower sliders? That is a Softail lightbar and tins as it appears to me but you have a FLHT fender. I always like to know what parts will mix and match, that is why I am interested.

FLHT tubes and sliders. The tins and lights came from a wrecked Fatboy. Don't remember where I got the handlebars. You have a good eye on the parts!
