I just picked up an 82 Shovelhead, and the manual says to put the tire pressure at 24 (cold) Front and Rear, but that seems a bit low. What do you all recommend?

I run 42 F, 44 R with my '00 on Metzlers.
32F, 34 R with the Dunlops on my 83.
I read the manual too and thought nfw am I going with 24 lbs! Though I did run at 7 lbs in the front once for awhile. That's why kicking your tires before you roll is a good habit imo.

You aren't running the original tires are you Kevin? Old tires degrade over time even without a lot of miles.

 

When the manual was written they used old style Goodyear tires. Go by what is written on the sidewalls.

 

Old rule of thumb.....see MAX pressure on sidewall...run 10% less.
